Roblox is less a game than a platform: millions of player-created experiences ranging from obstacle courses and roleplay towns to horror games and simulators, all running inside one app. The blocky avatars undersell what's possible — top experiences have production values and communities rivaling standalone titles.
Its strength is variety and social play. You can jump from a detective mystery to a tycoon simulator in seconds, usually with friends. The trade-off is inconsistency: quality varies wildly between experiences, and the in-game economy around Robux (the virtual currency) deserves parental attention for younger players. As a free, endless well of things to try with friends, though, nothing else on mobile comes close.
